The 12-0 Zanesville Football team will be playing New Albany Friday night and as a way to wish them good luck, students at National Road Elementary School made the team cards and banners, and cheered them on at a pep rally Thursday afternoon.

"We wanted Coach Grandstaff to bring some of his players out to receive everything we have for them just to let them know that our little guys are supporting them also," explained National Road Elementary School Principal Michelle Jordan.

Students chanted traditional Zanesville cheers as the players and Coach Chad Grandstaff walked into the gym. Some students even received a couple autographs. Grandstaff says the team is humbled and appreciative of all of the support.

"Just watching those kids smile and tell me how much they want to be football players when they grow up and tell those guys how much they admire them is just a tribute to our players and the guys that are here today that are just great role models and great leaders for those young kids," Grandstaff explained.

Friday’s game will be held in Columbus at St. Frances DeSales at 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on AM1240 and Z92 FM.
