Preparing for the First Snow of the Season

The first real taste of winter means it’s time to start thinking about how to deal with snow again.

Cars will be frosted, roads will be slick and driveways will need attention. Luckily, there are ways to prepare before the snow even touches the ground.

"We have a product that is fairly new, that is called liquid snow shovel,” explained Dennis Baldwin, Assistant Manager at the Sunrise Do-It Center. “You put it down before the snow and it melts as it is snowing on top of it. It kind of maintains itself and that would be a pre-snow thing."

Once the snow does reach the ground and begins to accumulate, there are options to help clear paths on your drive or walkways.

"After the snow, you could put ice melt, if you’ve got concrete or something. We also have rock salt that you can use but it harder on concrete, it’s harder on shrubs, grass and stuff like that, but if you’ve got a place that doesn’t matter, it’s a little bit cheaper, and of course snow shovels."

As for vehicles, there are windshield covers, ice scrapers, windshield De-Icers and winter wipers. The Sunrise Do-It Center will be open until 7 this evening and will open tomorrow morning at 8.
