Fifty years ago, President John F.Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas and on Friday local residents are remembered his life.

Executive Director at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors, Terry Dunn says he was just a boy when it happened but he remembers the moment very clearly.

"I was in study hall in the library at ZHS in the afternoon and it came on and they announced it. I don’t remember being sent home but I do remember they called school off on Monday and we stayed home and watched the funeral precession. "

Dunn says although there was turmoil going on in our country at that time people were shocked by the tragedy. The Dean of Ohio University Zanesville, Jim Fonseca says that his memory of JFK hits a little closer to home.

" I was from Massachusetts and my father was in the navy with Kennedy. He was actually in his squadron and actually knew him on what we call the the pt boats, he wasn’t on his boat but he was on the same squadron he was  during War World II in the South Pacific. "

Both men agree that Kennedy died too young and his assassination was an American tragedy.
