If you are like most people you will over eat during the long holiday season. Friday, a local trainer gives us a few tips on how to stay fit during the holidays.
Owner of DC Fitness and personal trainer at Southtown Gym, Derek Carnes says that the first step to getting healthier is as simple as leaving the house.
"With the holidays and the cold weather people like to hibernate so instead of staying stagnant inside your house come out the gym and get in shape. If you never been to the gym before look for a personal trainer here at Southtown Gym we have many trainers myself included and just get your feet off the ground and get started, " said Carnes.
Carnes says people just starting out should try the treadmill or elliptical machines to get warmed up. Along with working out people should also be aware of their diet especially during the holidays.
"During the holidays even myself as a trainer I like to splurge a little bit but within that you still want to space out five to six meals a day and just balance your portions throughout the day," said Carnes.
