Three years ago, The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties recognized an unmet need in our area during the holidays.
Countless organizations raise money, host benefits, and provide Christmas gifts for children in families who require extra help but there was a window left unopened.
"So we are targeting teens and those families that maybe did not get registered for the other programs and we do cross reference all of our names, and the names we took last year would not be eligible for this year, so it would be new people," explained Resource Development Director and 211 Call Center Manager, Audrey Foster.
In order to provide these gifts to teens and families who are facing hard times, The United Way is asking for the community’s help.
"Well, we really need volunteers, on all sorts of angles on this, of course to adopt a teen or a family and then you also need volunteers who would go shopping."
They also need help to wrap the gifts and of course donations are needed too. If you have a teen and need some help with the piling bills this holiday season or would like to help this project, you can call the 211 call center or the direct line at The United Way at 740-454-2255
