Despite the playoff football craze, high school basketball season is nearly upon us. Local teams have already started practicing, but for one Zanesville High School senior, this season won’t be her last. Leanne Ulbrich has been a consistent leader for the Lady Devils the past three years, and her hard work has finally paid off.
Ulbrich officially signed her letter of intent to play for Ashland University next fall. Her skills have developed over her four years at Zanesville, particularly on the defensive end, where she’s been a shutdown defender for head coach Jeff Moore.
Ulbrich celebrated her signing with family and friends Wednesday and will be joining three other local players at Ashland. Newark’s Maggie Mitchell, River View’s Andi Daugherty, and West holmes’ Layna Snyder all signed with the Eagles for 2014. Ulbrich has played with all three in AAU, and is excited to continue her career with them at the next level.
