A local woman wanted to bring awareness to a serious disease by releasing balloons at Riverside Park.

Christina Parmer has suffered from Epilepsy since she was just 3-years-old and four years ago the disease resurfaced causing her to have vicious seizures at random.

"I had one in public one time and we went back out after the seizure in public and the same woman that was there when I had one she had told her friend that I was possessed by the devil and I wouldn’t leave my house for like three weeks until it sunk in that people are not aware of it, "said Parmer.

Events like these prompted Parmer to educate the public about the disease and one way is through the release of balloons. Each balloon had a card attached to it that encourages its finder to e-mail her. Once she receives the e-mail, she posts in on her Facebook page to spread awareness. She says her posts have made it all the way to India. For more information about the disease including safety practices, symptoms and support feel free to send her an e-mail.
