The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary club held its annual Autumn Splendor Tea and Style Show. Co-chair Sue Hillis says it’s the biggest fundraiser the club puts on.

"This is probably the 12th style show that we had and all of the funds are used to purchase coats for needy children in the area," explained Hillis. "And a couple of weeks ago, we were able to distribute 610 coats, which really made us feel very very happy."

The style show featured local shops like Bonworth’s, Cato, Pamela’s, Jillian’s, Elder Beerman,  Wade’s Clothing and The Boutique at Wade’s. The show also featured WHIZ Sunrise Anchor Jennifer Bullock. Following the style show, there was a silent auction and tea.

"This is just a wonderful project and the ladies have to do all of the work. Which means they have to prepare the food, they have to do all of the decorating, they have to acquire auction items for our silent auction. So, it’s a lot of work by many, many ladies."

The money raised from the fundraiser will go towards purchasing local children coats for next winter and towards a youth summer camp.
