Eastside Community Ministry and The Knights of Columbus #505 are working together again this winter season to keep older children warm.

Youth Program Director, Joey Osborn explains that typically there are plenty of used coats for younger and smaller children, but older kids and teens are often left with nothing.

"So they always take the list of our ten oldest kids, and get them nice brand new coats for every winter, so that they are good and warm," said Osborn.

Osborn said the10 children who received the coats, were very excited and the minute they walked in the door they were trying on the various coats and picking the color they wanted. The Knights of Columbus have participated in the program for the past couple of years to help those in need during the holiday season.

"We’ve got 12 of each, 12 hats, 12 gloves and 12 coats, for the kids that needed help this year," said Deputy Grand Knight of Columbus 505, Theodore Martin II.

If you would like to help out Eastside for the holidays, you can donated to its food pantry. Particular items that are needed include canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly, canned vegetables and fruits because those are items that the organization cannot usually get any cheaper than the public.
