Wednesday was the 20th annual Miracle on Main Street and the Muskingum County Courthouse was illuminated for the duration of the holiday season.
The lighting ceremony was at 6:30 this evening and featured Christmas music selections performed by the Zanesville High School Blue Knights, The Sweet Adelines and the Broadway Babies. The entire ceremony was fun filled and a great kick off to the holiday season and there were some definite highlights to the evening.
"Obviously the weather made the participation from the crowd a lot better,” explained Membership Services Director, Dana Matz. “We had a tremendous turn out tonight and kids of all ages- if you will, because once Santa Claus shows up, I don’t care what age you are, it brings back great memories, young kids, old kids all rushing over, to see Santa Claus."
The festivities continued following the ceremony. More than 40 downtown businesses participated in the Holiday Tour.
"We have antique shops, we have title shops, we have the Masonic Temple and the artists that are in there, we have Studio 202, the restaurants, Old Market House Inn, Zak’s – they are open for business, and hopefully they are having great nights."
Matz says this was the largest Miracle on Main and the fun continues Thursday and Friday with the Festival of Trees.
