As the end of the year quickly creeps upon us, The Muskingum County Commissioners are taking a look back.

County Commissioner, Jim Porter says that 2013 was a steady year, however there are a few economic development projects that stand out in his mind . He says the local area has more jobs and opportunities thanks to the addition of a new company in our area.

"Looking back at 2013 fanatics comes in mind. We were told at the last port authority meeting there’s about 1,800 people working there right now we know that’s seasonal, but we were told that’s 300 hundred permanent jobs," said Porter.

He also say that this year, the commissioners all worked together to refinance two bonds and save several million dollars for the county. Porter says he is already looking ahead to projects on the calendar for next year.

" Next year we’ve got the East End sewer update project going on we are of course under findings and orders for the Avondale sewer and were working on that as well," said Porter.

The commissioners would like to wish everyone a happy New Year and say they are committed to doing what’s best for the county.
