The Muskingum and Guernsey County Sheriff’s Departments are investigating the discovery of a dead body at Dillon State Park Thursday evening.
The Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office said it all started when Cambridge Police reported a pizza delivery driver did not return after a delivery to a residence.
A deputy responded to the delivery address and spoke with a female at the residence. The female advised that her boyfriend was seen leaving the residence and was driving the pizza delivery vehicle.
Both the police department and the sheriff’s office believed an abduction had occurred and notified Whiz News and other media outlets and law enforcement agencies.
Deputies received information on the cell phone number of the suspect and began to ping the cell phone for location. The vehicle was stopped east bound on I-70 at 7:16p.m. by the State Highway Patrol and the suspect was taken into custody.
Sometime later, deputies requested the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office to meet them at Dillon State Park where the victim’s body was found.
Muskingum County Sheriff’s deputies and Guernsey County Sheriff’s deputies along with B.C.I. are processing the scene at Dillon State Park while Guernsey County deputies will be processing the victim’s vehicle and the delivery address.
The suspect remains in custody. The victim’s name will not be released until the next of kin is notified.
