While football fans cheered their way through Championship weekend for college football, Sunday was a waiting game to see where their teams would play in bowl games.
Ohio has a lot to be excited about as four teams will represent the state in bowl games.
The 12-1 Ohio State Buckeyes (no. 7 BCS) will take on the 10-2 Clemson Tigers (no.12) from the Atlantic Coast Conference on January 3 in Miami as part of the 2014 Discover Orange Bowl. The game is set for 8:30 p.m.
This is the second meeting between the Buckeyes and Tigers. Clemson defeated Ohio State 17-15 in the 1978 Gator Bowl.
Ohio State is officially 5-3 in BCS bowl games and with this ninth appearance becomes the team with the most BCS wins and most BCS appearances.
Ohio University is headed to the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s Bowl to face East Carolina of Conference USA. It’s the second season the Mid-American Conference will be represented in the pre-Christmas game taking place at Tropicana Field on December 23 at 2p.m.
The Bobcats finished the regular season 7-5 overall and 4-4 in conference play. The Pirates of Eastern Carolina had a 9-3 record overall and were 6-2 in conference play.
MAC Champion Bowling Green will return to Detroit to kick-off with Pittsburgh in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl on December 26. The Falcons defeated unbeaten Northern Illinois 42-27 in the MAC Title Game at Ford Field on Friday. This is the third bowl bid in five seasons for the Falcons and the 11th in school history.
And finally, the Cincinnati Bearcats will look to defend the Belk Bowl Title on December 28th against North Carolina. This is the second straight appearance in the game after defeating Duke 48-34 last year in Charlotte.
The Bearcats finished their season 9-3 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
UC has been to 14 bowl games in its 126 year history with an all time record of 8-6.
