If you’re still looking for Christmas tree to put up in your home, you have a chance to bid on hundreds of trees.

The annual Festival of Trees auction preview kicked off on Wednesday at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center. Chamber of Commerce President, Tom Poorman, says the annual auction has become a staple in the community.

"The auction provides us about $40,000 every year which we use to operate throughout the year and we put that back into programs in the community like small business development programs, economic development, member services and our members are all businesses, so we’re working on economic growth and this project helps us do that," said Poorman.

The auction not only serves as operations funding for the Chamber of Commerce, but the money raised serves a variety of purposes.

"It helps Miracle on Main Street and the Downtown Holiday Tour, they all work together and again the resources that the community provides to the chamber to help us operate throughout the year and we’re very grateful, the community is very generous to us."

Each tree, wreath and Christmas item up for auction comes with an incentive ranging from free advertising, games, gift cards and more. You can view the trees at the Welcome Center until 8 o’clock on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The live auction begins Friday at 9 a.m. on AM 1240 radio. You can contact the Chamber of Commerce at 740-455-8282 for more information.
