Local Fire Fighters Enjoy Christmas Dinner

For as long as they can remember the firefighters at the Zanesville Fire Department have celebrated Christmas together.

Firefighters must be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week in case of emergency. This includes holidays, birthdays and funerals,  but they say they make the best of any situation. Every year they prepare a special Christmas meal.

" We just kind of prepared the food at central station and the other two stations come in and we have ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and rolls and some desserts," said Local 88 President, Trent Abrams.

Abrams says that when firefighters come together  to eat it’s a fellowship experience for the guys. He says they are all like family and some of the older firefighters gave the rookies a holiday gift.

"Some of the guys help out the younger guys that have families and stuff, they stayed over this morning so they could spend Christmas with their families," said Abrams.

The fire fighters are working from 7a.m. on Wednesday to 7 a.m. tomorrow morning and would like to wish the community a very merry Christmas.
