Over the years, we’ve seen some great athletes in our area, but only a few are skilled enough to play at the next level. At 6’3", 210 pounds, Newark Catholic’s Chayce Crouch is one of the most versatile athletes around. He’s led the Green Wave in football, basketball, and baseball the last four years, and now he will take his talents to the Big Ten, to play quarterback for the University of Illinois football team.
Crouch officially signed his letter of intent tonight in front of over a hundred friends and family at Newark Catholic High School. Several of Crouch’s coaches spoke on his behalf, including Newark Catholic Head Coach Bill Franks and Position Coach Ron Roesink.
Despite his talents in other sports, Chayce chose to forgo the spring and enroll early at the University of Illinois, where he will begin taking classes and practicing with the football team. Overall, it was a special night for a special player.
