Cub Scout Pack 121 from Dresden had their annual Pinewood Derby race at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Sunday afternoon. Each Cub Scout was given a car kit with a wooden block, wheels, and nails to create their derby car.

"It’s something the boy’s really look forward to and they have a lot of fun doing it," said Dan Riley of pack 121. "And this is the 42nd year that our pack has done it so it’s been around for a long time and it gets a little bit better every year. We tweak it and change things a little bit to make it a little more enjoyable and a little more fun."

Each car raced 30 times and points were given based on the order in which they finished. Cub Scout Liam Curry said it took him about a week to build his derby car, and he even told us his secret to a winning car.

"Making it into a wedge and kind of putting all the weight in the back, hollowing it out," said Curry.

The winners were given trophy’s to take home.
