Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says his deputies and officers from the Zanesville Police Department seize a drug house.

Sheriff Lutz says that their department constantly receives calls about illegal activity happening at 770 Findlay Avenue. Once they obtained a search warrant they went into the house and took Justin L.Minor into custody.

"Today we were able to get charges on him. We have obviously have a weapon under disability, we did find a gun at the residence that’s an F3. We found some drugs in the house including heroin and cocaine, " said Sheriff Lutz.

Along with gun charges minor will face two counts of trafficking and two counts of possession of drugs. If found guilty of all charges minor could face up to 14 years in prison. When apprehending the suspect Lutz says officers did face resistance from the owner’s two pets.

"We did have to shoot two animals, they had two dogs that did try to charge our officers. We tried to not shoot the one outside it almost went away from us then it circled back and came at one of our detectives and he shot it right at his feet," said Lutz.

Sheriff Lutz says his deputies still need to question other people at the address.
