Governor Kasich calls for extra school snow days as the cold weather continues.
Monday, Governor John Kasich urged the Ohio General Assembly and Ohio Department of Education to work together to provide a one time increase in the number of days that schools can take off because of snow and bad weather.
Kasich said the increase of just a few days is needed since so many Ohio schools have used or are close to using thier five calamity days.
The governor said extending the school year can wreak havoc with schools budgets and schedules. He said giving them this one time increase is helpful and lets everyone stay focused on the top priority when weather hits, keeping kids safe.
