The Finks Harley Davidson third annual Chili Cook-Off brought out large crowds to South Zanesville on Saturday.
More than 100 people came out to sample more than 20 different chilis from all over the city. There were both old and new contestants this year, including a few first timers.
"Me and my partner here we went around super markets asking for tips and advice from strangers and Busch’s Baked Beans that’s the trick and we just stuck together," said Clayton Gillespie,
Gillespie’s team had plenty of votes on the board, but fell short of the top three. This year’s winner was the American Biker Chili made by Eugene Phillips. Phillips says he likes to add garlic and bell peppers to his chili and he will share his $200 prize with friends.
"I’m going to get my buddies a couple of things. I’m not sure what they want but I told them to pick something out. They helped me out with this and I want to thank them too, " said Phillips.
In second place was Cid’s Smokehouse Grill Brisket Chili and rounding out third place was a chili made by Grey Wolf a local biker. Donations were taken at the event and it will go to different charities throughout the year.
