After packing away a few extra pounds during the holidays locals are starting to take their work out routine to the next level.

CEO of the Fieldhouse, Mick Amicone says that January 1st is usually one of the busiest times to register people for gym memberships, but the weather this year kept some visitors at home. He says that Saturdays brief change in temperature was a break through for locals looking to get fit.

"So we have basically three days worth of people, about 1,500 people that are anxious to start. About 1,500 people walk through the doors today for kids programming and to start that New Year’s resolution that we pray that they will keep 90 days from now, " said Amicone.

Amicone says that to ensure safety and positive results for visitors that the staff at his gym are knowledgeable and have a plan in place to help people reach their ultimate goals and stick with their New Year’s resolution.

"we absolutely want to track their progress for the next 90 days. We want to see them as many times as they can possibly get in. We want to talk to them about their diet. We want to talk to them about nutrition, but most importantly talk to them about being sensible, said, Amicone.

Some practical advice for people working out for the first is to stretch, start slowly , and build endurance over the appropriate amount of time.
