MASS Bingo To Reopen In February Or March

With changing technology and newly opened casinos in the state, the MASS Bingo Hall on W. Main Street has been temporarily closed since December. President of the Board of Directors for the Animal Shelter Society, Stephanie Hill, says the board decided to shut down bingo to evaluate how they could do things differently. Hill calls the closing a "transition period."

"Our players I think are disappointed that were not open currently, but we are definitely working to get back open as soon as possible and hopefully with some new ideas and things that they’re really gonna like," Hill explained.

Hill says bingo is a big portion of what keeps the Animal Shelter Society operating.

"All of the funds that are raised there come directly to the shelter to help with our normal operations. We’re an adoptable no-kill shelter, we have a lot of expenses here so every penny that we make at bingo goes a long way in helping us fulfill our mission.

Hill says they’re looking for a "fresh batch of volunteers" for when they re-open, which is expected sometime in February or March. Those who are interested can call the Animal Shelter at 740-452-1077.
