A meth lab has been seized from a Thornville home.
After receiving information that methamphetamine was being produced at 14876 Empire Road, detectives from the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force and deputies from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office seized the meth lab from the residence on Saturday. Deputies arrested a 35-year-old Baltimore, Ohio man who is now being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail awaiting formal charges. This is the second seizure at the residence in two weeks.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation began after detectives followed the suspects into the Kroger’s in Hebron and witnessed them purchasing supplies to make meth. Deputies then followed the suspects back into Perry County, conducted a traffic stop, searched the vehicle, and found items consistent with making the highly addictive drug. As a result of the investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said two more suspects were identified and their cases will soon be presented to a Perry County Grand Jury.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, 40 meth labs were seized in Perry County in 2013, and in 2012, sheriff’s deputies seized over 150 meth labs.
