On Tuesday, the Moose Lodge presented the Muskingum County Hunger Network and the Muskingum Valley Miracle League each with a check totaling over $4600. Moose Lodge Administrator Ron Baughman said it took about a year of fundraising to make the donations possible.
"We’ll we have fundraisers. We do this out of our gaming and yea that’s about it just those two things," said Baughman.
President of the Miracle League Board of Directors, Caribeth Legats, and President of the Muskingum Hunger Network, Tom Cover, both say they are grateful for the substantial donations.
"This year, this past year, we were able to cover our bleachers with a couple grants and our money from moose," said Legats. "So it’s a wonderful way that they give back to the community and it’s great for us."
"It will be divided between 15 food pantries, four hot meals programs and two special needs programs which makes up the Muskingum Hunger Network," Cover said of how the money will be used.
While the Moose Lodge has been fundraising for the Miracle League for the past five years, Baughman said he hopes do the same for the Hunger Network.
