Members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center met with the Muskingum County Commissioners to discuss the transition into their new facility.

The Muskingum Recreation Center on the OUZ- Zane State campus is expected to open for current members of the Genesis Lifestyle and Fitness Center near the end of March and for the general public in early April. Organizers are changing their corporate and regular memberships options to reflect changes to the facility.

"Corporate entities can buy into our corporate package and then depending on the level that they want to buy into it then give their employees a percentage discount, so there’s different options for the companies but we are currently setting up our corporate memberships for the Muskingum Rec Center," said Executive Director, Beth Chapman.

There are also plans for the public that include individual, couples and junior membership options .The new facility will feature more room for machinery, space for exercise classes and a state of the art competition standard swimming pool. The aquatic center can be used for swim meets, rehab and general swim lessons.

"I’m just excited for the community to see this facility because it really is a beautiful facility, but it’s a functional facility and we will be able to teach people how to swim. There is a lot of folks in the area that have never been in a pool and don’t how to swim and we are surrounded by water," said Chapman.

Chapman says that they have worked on the project for the last five years and she looks forward to opening day.
