Two women were sent to the hospital after a collision on Maple Avenue near Dairy Queen.

Officials from the Zanesville Police Department report that at around 10 a.m two vehicles collided shutting down the busy roadway for over an hour.

"The green car was believed to be going northbound on Maple just past Thurman here and seemed to pull to the left an struck the gray car that over here sitting on the side walk," said Captain Doug Merry.

Captain Merry says although Maple Avenue has a high volume of traffic they are having trouble finding witnesses who saw the crash. They are asking the public to come forward with more details.

"Let us know that if they have information. Anything they saw is going to be a help even if it’s something little it could add up," said Captain Merry.

Merry says that one of the women had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Zanesville Fire Department and both women suffered severe injuries. Both drivers were sent to Genesis Good Samaritan hospital for treatment. Hospital officials say 39-year-old Kimberly Bender of Dresden is at Good Samaritan, but they will not release her condition. 75-year-old Nancy Luallen of Adamsville is not listed in the hospital’s database.
