If you lose power or heat, or just need a warm place to stay, the Muskingum Valley Red Cross is urging residents of Muskingum, Morgan and Perry counties, to use the Salvation Army as a warming station.
"The very first thing that we do is always contact some of our partners in the community and the first one would be the Salvation Army," said MVRC Executive Director, Marlene Henderson. "They are open 24/7 so if you would need to get in out of the cold for any reason, that would be the first place that we would recommend."
As of right now, the Salvation Army is the only warming station set up, but Henderson says they will open more on a need basis.
"If indeed it is a power outage, they would need to get ahold of their EMA directors and that information is sent to us and that’s how we decide whether or not, or where we’re going to open an emergency shelter."
The Salvation Army is located at 515 Putnam Ave. in Zanesville.
