The Washington Township Fire Department is looking for volunteers to join their team.

The department is currently having a membership drive to increase their staff numbers. The department says it takes the right kind of person to serve their community and be a part of their fire house family.

"You definitely have to be a team player, you can’t come in and try to run the place, but still must have a go get it attitude," said Firefighter, Jennifer Davis.

Along with the right personality you must live in Washington Township, be 18 years of age or older and have a high school degree or equivalent. The department also is looking for candidates with clean criminal and driving records. Davis says the benefits of becoming a volunteer firefighter are endless.

"I started here about four and half years ago and I have learned a lot about myself and about the other members of the department. We have all learned how to work as a team we train together and had good and bad days together, " said Davis

Interested candidates must complete training hours in medical and fire courses before being cleared. They also should be aware that they must commit ten to 15 hours a week to the station. For more information you can give the Fire chief, Gene Hanning a call by phone at 740-819-5837.
