In honor of National Pie Day, the Zane Trace Riders 4H Club spent Sunday morning selling pies at Ohio Pottery.

The club started out the day with 55 different flavored pies, most of which sold out quickly. Club president Kim Bean said dutch apple and cherry were among the favorites.

"Each member and some of the advisors made all of the pies," said Bean. "There are a couple generous donations that we get from some people in the community. But for the most part, it’s just the members that bring pies that they’ve made."

Sunday’s fundraiser is just one of the events the 4H club puts on throughout the year to help raise money for their Christmas party, operating expenses, and horse show.

"We train our horses throughout the year and we take them to the fair and show them and get grades on them so its just a lot of learning experiences with our animals and through other projects we get a lot of good learning experiences outside of school and stuff that we wouldn’t learn in school."

Bean said this is an annual fundraiser and wants to remind everyone to keep an eye out for it next year.
