New and returning council members were sworn into Zanesville’s City Council on Monday night. The three new members are Council-At-Large Rob Sharrer and Steven Foreman, and representing Zanesville’s 6th Ward is Andrew Roberts. Foreman, who is also the Director of Title 1 and Special Programs for Zanesville City Schools, said his background with parents and families will benefit both him and the city during his two year term.

"I just feel those are all things that have afforded me an opportunity to really get a look inside of maybe some family situations and some more behind doors for our city, so I know what the struggles are and I hope by being apart of this council, I can help alleviate some of those," Foreman explained.

Sharrer, who is the owner of Varsity Title Services, said the combination of being a small-business owner, and his experience with handling real estate and refinancing transactions, will only help the city.

"I see what other small business folks are going through, and meeting bills and deadlines and payrolls and that sort of thing, so I think that will be a benefit to me on council," said Sharrer.

In other council news, 5th ward councilman David Tarbert, was elected president pro tem, and Susan Culberson was elected to replace Vicki Figgins as clerk of council.
