The Zanesville man charged in connection with killing a man and trying to burn his body will appear in court Tuesday morning.

The trial for 20-year-old Shaquille Davis is scheduled to begin in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court at 9am Tuesday. He is charged in the death and burning of 24-year-old Phillip Kimbro, Jr. last year. Kimbro’s body was found on fire by a tree trimming crew on County Road 15 in Morgan County. Davis is charged with aggravated murder with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse.

The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said Davis made a motion last week to represent himself at trial. Common Pleas Judge Mark Feegle granted the request, as there was no objection by the state.

WHIZ News will have a camera and reporter in the courtroom… Stay tuned for updates throughout the day.
