Busy May Primary For Republicans In Muskingum County

Muskingum County Board of Elections Director,Chris Hamill, says her office has received a large amount of filings for the May 6 primary.

"We’ve had here in our office, the 97th district files here for state rep," said Hamill. "We’ve had the commissioner, auditor and central committee and also we’ve had tax levy filings and two local options."

Mollie Crooks and current county commissioner, Jim Porter, both Republicans, will face off in the primary for county commissioner, along with Democratic candidate, Zanesville City Councilman, Grant Hutcheson. In the Republican primary for county auditor, incumbent Debra Nye will be challenged by Zanesville attorney Jeanette Moll. There is also a race for the judge of common please in the probate/juvenile division.

"There are four candidates on the Republican ballot. That would be Steven Buck, Maria Kalis, Eric Martin and Susan McDonald."
