Zanesville Police say they made an arrest this past weekend in connection to a recent assault.

Chief Kenny Miller says on the morning of February 12, officers received a call that a homeless man, 58 -year- old Timothy Jenkins, fell on Van Buren Street. After investigation they determined he had been assaulted.

"He received a lot of injuries to his head I know that he is presently in Grant Hospital in critical condition," said Chief Miller.

Chief Miller says 27- year- old Michael Estep was arrested at an apartment off of Adair Avenue in connection to the attack. He was charged with an F2 felonious assault. Chief Miller says that aggression in our area is at an all time high.

"I believe that it’s already been touched on before, I think a lot of it is the weather, everybody is being cooped up and tempers are short," said Chief Miller.

The victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
