Tax Help Is Here

It is officially tax season and going through all of your old information can be difficult but there is help available.

The United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties is currently offering tax help, free of charge to those who qualify. Those in need of help simply need to contact the United Way by dialing 2-1-1 and providing a little information about their situation.

"They’ll do a short screening to make sure that you qualify because we can only do simple returns we can’t do business returns, rental, income that sort of thing so they’ll go through a couple questions with you and then they’ll schedule an appointment we do have plenty of appointments left into march," said Amy Davis, Community Impact Coordinator for United Way.

Once an appointment has been made the process of meeting with a tax prep volunteer is quick and clients leave with their questions answered and their taxes filed.

"one of our goals at united way is to help individuals keep more of their own financial stability and to keep some of that money in their own pocket. This is a service that advances that outcome," added Davis.

The goal for the United Way this year is to serve 560 clients, so far the organization has made over 320 appointments with many still available. The tax clinics are held twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays with some Friday appointments available and every Saturday morning. To schedule an appointment, call 2-1-1.
