The Muskingum Recreation center will be open in less than two months.
Executive Director, Beth Chapman says the facility will open to the general public on April 1st. The project will take around 13 months to complete in total and Chapman says everything is coming together smoothly despite the inclement weather.
"We have had a few delays with the weather, luckily the contractors have worked on the weekends to get caught up so it really hasn’t been any kind of delay in the schedule, " said Chapman.
Much of the exterior has already been completed and now the construction crew is putting a few finishing touches to the inside of the building.
"Currenly they are working on the flooring and putting down all the flooring in the various areas as well as working on the gym renovations so that will be completed at the end of April, " said Chapman.
The Muskingum Rec is a partnership between Ohio University Zanesville, Genesis Healthcare System, the Muskingum Family Y and the Muskingum County Community Foundation. Chapman says each group is eager for the 11 million dollar facility to open.
