More than 300 volunteers and scout officials met the North Terrace Church of Christ for the annual Muskingum Valley Council Awards.

The Muskingum Valley Council covers Muskingum, Knox, Coshocton, Guernsey Noble, and part of Tuscararwas County. Eagle Scouts in those districts were recognized for their dedication at Saturday’s festivities.

"We have 29 young men who have achieved scouting flagship rank in the past year in addition to that we are recognizing volunteers for their dedicated service to those young men," said District Director for Zane Trace District, Jeffrey Pickett.

Volunteers have assisted in camping projects, raising money, mentoring and fostering skills in boys scouts. Pickett says that the values that the scouts learn through the organization are priceless.

" It all boils down to the 12 points of scout law . A scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean," said Pickett.

the MVC has held annual banquets in the past but this year they tried something new. There was a decked out red carpet, interview area and puppets for entertainment.
