ZMCCC Gets A Head Start On Bringing Tourism To The Area

As a way to promote tourism in Muskingum County, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce issues a new visitors guide every year, and the 2014 guide is already being distributed across the country.

"We produce 100,000 guides, and more importantly, we distribute 100,000 guides," said Kelly Ashby, VP on the ZMCCC. "So get these guides in the hands of travelers not only in the state of Ohio, but they are also distributed in Kentucky, West Virginia, Michigan."

Ashby said the Wilds, the Y-Bridge, the Lorena Sternwheeler, and pottery shops are among Muskingum County’s most popular tourist destinations. While the visitor’s guide is primarily for tourists, they are available to local residents as well.

"They are great for the local community to use as a tool to market the area or if they have family traveling to the area or also, for business partners. So it’s a great economic development tool."

You can pick up a visitor’s guide at the Zanesville-Muskingum County Welcome Center.
