Cast Your Ballot Early

Your chance to cast your ballot for the May primary election begins Tuesday.

The Board of Elections will hold extended hours so those interested in casting their ballots early or registering to vote can do so. To make the elections uniform across the state Boards of Elections will open their doors at 8 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. In Muskingum County voters will see several contested races.

"There are some state races," said Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill. "County wide we have three that are contested. We have commissioners race, the auditor’s race and also the judge’s race."

When voting you will also have to choose a party affiliation. Hamill said even with levies for Zanesville City Schools and Franklin Local as well as a $5.00 license plate fee increase, she doesn’t expect a heavy turnout.

"I’m still seeing a lite turnout as of right now," explained Hamill. "I still predict a 17 percent turnout, so hopefully the people will come out and vote this election."

Hamill said those wanting to vote have until April 7 to register. If you have changed your address your new location with the Board of Elections. The deadline to do so is also April 7.
