As a way to celebrate Public Health Week, every year the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department plans a health fair at Colony Square Mall. Jennifer Hiestand of the ZMCHD, says this year will be an exciting year with new demonstrations like yoga, CrossFit, and a tutorial on how to install car seat.
"We have free car seat checks for new parents, grandparents to come and that’s going to be outside in the parking lot across from BW3 on Brandywine Boulevard," said Hiestand. "There will be car seat technicians to be able to make sure your seats are properly installed."
Around 30 vendors will fill the mall with booths and demonstrations. There will also be glucose testing, blood pressure screenings and free nutritional analysis. Hiestand says the fair is focused on encouraging Muskingum County residents to take charge of their health.
"A lot of the disease we see in our community can be prevented so we just want to encourage people to come out and pickup that information or learn something a little bit new. There are simple things you can do to reduce your risk for disease so that’s the whole point of the health fair to get out there and get some information that you can use to be a healthier person."
The Community Health Fair is free and open to the public. It will take place at the mall April 4-5 from 10 to 9 p.m. For more information you can go online to www.zmchd.org.
