Reese Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate Pastachio and White Chocolate Raspberry were just a few of the flavors up for judging at the 3rd Annual Cupcake War.

The goal of the fundraiser is to raise money for Operation Feed , a program established through the Hunger Network. Cupcake war organizers says it’s a growing issue in our own backyard.

"We have a lot of people in our community who are really going hungry so this is a way for us to give back to the community in a fun and festive atmosphere, " said Adult Protective Service Worker, Patsy Mcdonald.

More than 20 cupcake selections were provided to guests along with a ham sandwich lunch and tickets to vote on their favorite flavors. There were three official judges at the event that chose the best cupcake through a tough elimination process.

" They judge in presentation as well as taste and then we have the People’s Choice Wward and they get to judge on whatever their favorite cupcake is and we have some nice prizes for people who really spent their time to make this a fun occasion," said Mcdonald.

Prizes included gift certificates to Sam’s Club, Wal Mart, Riesbecks and more. Organizers hope to raise at $300 for Operation Feed. The cup cake war was held at the Muskingum Sheriff’s Office building on East Pike.
