Employability Expo Prepares Mid-East Students For The Workforce

The Mid-East Career and Technology Center held its 6th annual Employability Expo Tuesday afternoon. Over 70 professionals from Muskingum County attended the expo to give students advice and answer questions about their career path.

"We try to bring at least three to four employers into each of our classrooms that are in a related field to what our students are studying here at Mid-East and they give them an idea, a little bit of what the businesses have to offer," said Shannon Kenily, coordinator of business partnerships at Mid-East.

Kenily says the expo also teaches students about work ethic, what to put on a resume, the importance of being timely, and dressing professionally.

"It’s just a great way for our students to see what is in our business community, see what Muskingum and our surrounding counties have to offer as far as employment because many of our students, whether they go on to post-secondary education, may want to come back to our area. And we hope that they do, and we just want them to know what is available here for us."

The same event will be held at the Mid-East Buffalo Campus in April.
