A group of very important people will be honored this week.
ForeverDad’s is rolling out the red carpet for fathers at their 3rd Annual Tribute to Fatherhood event. One organizer said that actor’s are honored with the Academy Awards and musician’s with Grammys but the true role models and heroes in our community are dads.
"When a father is absent a child is five times more likely to live in poverty, 2-3 more times likely to drop out of school, 70 percent of the men incarcerated in prison grew up without a dad. It’s the number one predictor of crime. When a dad is home we have a healthier safer community," said James McDonald.
This year the organization honors five men Bill Moyer, Darrel Cubbison, Bobby Martin, Ronald Horn and Tom Quinn.
"Not only have they been exceptional fathers but they’ve been our employers, our coaches, our teachers, our mentors in the community and we want to recognize them this year," said McDonald.
The Tribute to Fatherhood event takes place Thursday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at North Terrace Church of Christ. If you would like to attend the event you must reserve your spot by Tuesday by calling (740) 453-1323.
