The Muskingum County Commissioners held bid openings for a million dollar project that’s scheduled to start early this summer.

Three companies submitted bid proposals to complete construction on the New Life Lift Station and Sanitary Force Main on US 22. Stanley Miller Construction, Precision Pipeline and Zembra Brothers submitted bids that ranged from 1.3 million dollars to 1.5 million dollars.

"The engineer will review the bids and come back with a recommendation probably within week." said Jim Porter.

Muskingum County Projects Director, Don Madden says that the new pump station and force main will increase sanitary sewer capacity for the Maysville area.

"The county has basically reached the maximum amount of pumping capacity in that area and in order to be able to have capacity for expansion in the area and to deal with the flows we needed to update the pump area and force main," said Madden.

The new pump station will be located close to the old structure on county land near the New Life Church. The project is projected to start in June.
