The Zanesville Police Department is looking to do some hiring.

Currently the department is in need of corrections officers for the city jail. Interested individuals can check the city’s website to apply. All applicants must be 20 and a half years of age and older to apply. Chief Miller says it’s a good way to get your foot in the door in the police department.

"It’s not a job for everyone, but if people are interested in getting into law enforcement and maybe there is not an opening this is a good place to start, and also if they work in our jail and they are not military they can get a 20% addition to a passing score on the police test," said Chief Miller.

All applicants are required to take a physical and written exam. If hired starting pay is $14.10 a hour and the job has competitive benefit packages. Applications are being accepted until April 17th.
