Featured Animal Shelter Pet of the Week

It’s that time again, for the Animal Shelter Society’s featured pet of the week.

The society is currently looking for a home for Lisa , the cat with the longest stay at the shelter. A portion of her adoption fee is being sponsored by local attorney, Sherry Ryan. It costs $30 to adopt her and animal shelter employees say after a rough start, she is now ready for a new beginning.

"Eventually we got her to kind of trust humans a little bit and be a lot less nervous, now she is doing really well, when you open the cage at first she is still a little nervous, but she’s doing really great. She loves to be petted and be loved on and she really enjoys playing with kitty toys, " said Animal Shelter Society’s Katelynd Latham.

If you miss out on adopting Lsa, there is still a chance to find the perfect feline for your home. Through a new partnership with Pet Smart, animal shelter cats can now be purchased at the Zanesville Pet Smart location.

"We take them over to Pet Smart, we will give them cages and allow them to be adopted through them, but all of the money and everything goes back to us," said Latham.

All the cats are spayed and neutered. For more information you can visit the shelter’s website or visit pet smart this Saturday and Sunday from Noon until 3 p.m. for their big adoption event.
