One local school district held their first ever Wellness 5K Run and One Mile Walk on Saturday.
After receiving a grant from "Action For Healthy Kids" program to increase activity within their middle school, organizers had to think of an April event to get the community up and moving.
" As the committee discussed it, we decided why not have a 5K and it kind of grew into a community event to try to bring in folks in the community and their kids, " said Wellness Coordinator, Dawn Tonneman.
Not only was their plenty of running, guests also had the chance to enjoy bounce houses and food while supporting a couple of local organizations through fundraising.
" Registration was a canned good or a monetary donation and the monetary donation is going to PAWS of Muskingum County and the canned goods are going to East Side Community Ministries food pantry, " said Tonneman.
Many Maysville students spent their time volunteering as timers and course builders for the day. The top runners received key chains and trophies for their hard work. Tonneman hopes to make this an annual event.
