Programs See Funding through “Start Talking”

Coshocton and Licking Counties see funds from Ohio’s new youth drug prevention initiative "Start Talking."

The Governor’s Office said that the building youth resiliency grants target students in 5-9 grades.

Over $62,000 was awarded to Coshocton Behavioral Health Choices. The program will work with all three local county school districts to provide life skills training. LST holds the distinction of being a top research based substance abuse prevention program.  They’ll also reach out to parents offering tips on how to keep their kids drug free.

Over $62,000 will also come to Licking County for Pathways of Central Ohio. This program teaches kids in the seven Licking County School Districts how to develop drug resistance skills which enable them to recognize and challenge misconceptions about tobacco, alcohol and other drug use.

17 other counties will receive funding through the "Start Talking" initiative totaling $1.5 million.
