For many people this is the holiest of weekends, observing Good Friday and Easter.
Pastor Joe DiVincenzo of the New Hope Church says that Easter is more than the Easter bunny and Easter baskets. He says the holy holiday is a remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus Christ.
"The whole idea is to remember the price that Christ paid for our sins, on to the cross, rising from the dead and so Good Friday is a time to take communion and remember what the lord has done for us, " said DiVincenzo.
The church will also celebrate Easter this Sunday at 10 a.m. with a special service. The pastor says it’s one of the most meaningful Christian holidays.
"It’s absolutely essential. Without the resurrection from the dead there is no victory over the grave and death, it would be meaningless and lifeless so it is worth it for us to remember that and celebrate that every year, " said DiVincenzo.
If you would like to celebrate with New Hope Church any one is welcome to visit at 3550 East Pike.
