The Zanesville Police Department said it made three arrests this week in connection to prostitution in the downtown area.

Chief Kenneth Miller says last night three members of his department executed a prostitution sting on 7th St. from Market to South St.

"We not only went out to arrest the prostitutes, we also did a reverse sting to also arrest the johns. " said Chief Miller.

Chief Miller says officers arrested Stacy Taylor, 34 of Zanesville on one count of loitering to engage in solicitation. The chief says also arrested were Jeffery Matson, 53 of Crooksville and Larry Knott, 69 of Zanesville. Both were charged with one count of soliciting. Chief Miller says prostitution is an ongoing issue the city must face.

" A lot of it is because of the drugs and it seems no matter how long they spend in jail, they seem like they go right back into the same environment and get involved with the drugs and work prostitution to support it, " said Chief Miller.

Both Taylor and Matson plead not guilty and are currently awaiting court dates set in May. Police says the charges against Taylor were dropped.
