Body Found in Cambridge Motel

According to the Cambridge Police Department at around noon on Friday, February 7th, employees of the Deer Creek Motel reported the discovery of a dead motel guest.

Officers arrived and found a 44-year-old male dead on the floor of the motel room. The identity of the victim is not being released until relatives have been notified. He is believed to be a recent Cambridge resident, having moved here from North Carolina and had been staying at the motel since February 1st.

Details of the crime are being investigated by the Cambridge Police Department along with investigators of the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Cambridge Police believe the death is a homicide, no arrests have been made and no one is in custody at this time.

The Guernsey County Coroner ordered the victim to be transported to the Licking County Coroner’s Office where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and time of death. The Guernsey County Prosecutor’s Office is actively working with investigators as the investigation progresses.

According to police, this is the first homicide in the city of Cambridge since April 2012.
